November 2012 we were lucky enough to be featured in Reno Magazine's Event Issue. We were chosen to style a Costume Party. Our goal in brainstorming about possible themes for a costume party was to find something that people would actually dress up for. As we all know, it isn't always that easy to get guests to play along with your theme. We ultimately chose a glamorous 20s Great Gatsby themed New Year's Eve Party because who doesn't want to pretend they are actually that fancy to ring in the New Year?
Women could dress in glamorous beaded gowns or sexy fringed numbers and men (the hardest to get to play along) could dress in suits or tuxes. The theme lends itself to just about anyone's specific tastes. We also provided fedoras, bejeweled head bands, bow ties, pearls, and boas for those guests who may have conveniently forgotten their costume at home or just want to jazz up what they had.
Here is a link to the full article. Special thanks to Alie's Flowers for the beautiful centerpiece, Creative Coverings for the specialty linens, Camelot Party Rentals for the rentals, Divine Plate Catering for the beautiful food, The Victorian House for the beautiful location, Tiers of Joy Wedding and Celebration Cakes for the art deco cake, and most of all Reno Magazine for the feature!
Light pink chair sashes with black wispy feathers add glamour to basic black Chivari chairs. The table linens by Creative Coverings consist of a black and white striped runner over a white lace overlay and a pewter lamour floor length cloth to create a layer multi-texture look.
